Our opening hours on Saturdays are now 9.00am to 12.00pm. Please note we do not open on the Saturday mornings of Bank Holiday weekends.

We are very pleased to announce that our new showroom is now open to anyone wishing to visit.

The showroom features displays of decking and flooring as well as moulded sections, kitchen worktops and ledged and braced doors. Above all it is an opportunity to see the huge range of timbers that we have in stock and examples of how they will look as finished products in a variety of end uses.

WOODLAND

Over the summer months our forestry maintenance team has been busy grass cutting, spraying and tree pruning to ensure that the trees we have planted (around 28,000 so far) are able to flourish.

The older trees planted in 1992 are now well established and here we need to continue to prune to produce high quality timber in years to come.

We thinned some mature Oak in 2003 and took some pippy logs into our sawmill for processing. This timber has been through our drying process and produced some very good waney edged boards of pippy English Oak and of course we can confirm the sustainability credentials of this stock.

Ben Donnelly has joined the sales team on a permanent basis having worked in the yard and mill as part of his training. Ben first worked at Sykes under a work experience program while still at school and came back to join us full time after completing his studies.

Roger Latham has become the fourth member of our current work force to reach 25 years service with the company. The experience that comes with such long service is invaluable to the company and we congratulate Roger on his quarter century.

We have now added download specification sheets for each of our main timbers. These are in PDF format and can be printed off from the timber specification pages. We decided not to include the colour photographs in the printable specification sheets due to the variations of different printers in use.

We have added new pages for boat builders and makers of wooden musical instruments.
